Most Realtors believe in using affirmations to start their day.  A large part of sales – any type of sales – is about attitude and sense of self, so, it’s important to be purposeful, and begin the day on a positive note.  We want to face the world with a smile.  Some agents swear by it.  I’ve never taken the time to develop the habit but I can see the point.

Fortunately, I have a strong sense of self.  My confidence comes from knowing that I’m going to do my best work every day – read about it in my (free) book.  I genuinely enjoy helping people get from a to b, whether that involves helping them find their first home or sell one that no longer suits their needs.  I like to hunt – for success.  And in my profession, that means #househunting.  My dad was an avid hunter and I enjoyed accompanying him, but, as an adult, I found I could obtain my goal of putting food on the table much faster by simply visiting the nearest grocery.

The hunting I do now is much more challenging.  (My apologies to hunters in our midst.)  In our housing market, the shortage of well priced homes makes selling real estate easy.  When you can find the right property.  Buyers dictate what that looks like.  So, I hunt daily for properties that I know (within reason) will suit current buyers.

Today I’m seeking a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home on an acre of land within 30 miles (no HOA, preferably North, or Northwest) of Plano.  The house needs updated?  No problem.  No landscaping?  No problem.  Requires maintenance or repairs?  No problem.  So, if this sounds like your home and you’re thinking of selling, please call me.  My clients will pay cash, no mortgage required.  They’re great people,  retired and eager to get settled.  We’ll have a nice quick sale, they’ll renovate and you can move forward with your plans.  And I’m happy to help with that, if you’d like!

While I’m waiting to hear from you, I’ll practice a few affirmations.  I may twist them a bit to suit my purpose.

.) I am the architect of my life; I build its foundation (no cracks, please) and choose its contents (built-ins?).

.) Today, I am brimming with energy (plumbed for gas in the kitchen) and overflowing with joy (immediately upon closing).

.) My body is healthy (though a bit tired); my mind is brilliant (I’m definitely bright, but I don’t know about brilliant!); my soul is tranquil (that might be a stretch – I really need to find this house).

.) I am superior to negative thoughts (always) and low actions (not acceptable).

.) I have been given endless talents which I begin to utilize today (Lord, I hope I started before today!).

.) I forgive those who have harmed me in my past (I can’t even remember who they were) and peacefully detach from them (completely).

.) A river of compassion washes away my anger (are we in a flood plain, because that’s not acceptable) and replaces it with love (that’s no problem – love never caused structural damage).

.) I am guided in my every step by Spirit (I acknowledge the power of my Creator) who leads me towards what I must know and do (please, Lord, let me be wise enough to understand).

.) I possess the qualities needed to be extremely successful (but I need that house).

.) My business is growing, expanding, and thriving (it will if I can find the aforesaid house).

.) Creative energy surges through me and leads me to new and brilliant ideas (that’s the reason for this post).

.) Happiness is a choice (agreed). I base my happiness on my own accomplishments and the blessings I’ve been given (absolutely, but finding the house would greatly enrich these accomplishments and blessings).

.) My ability to conquer my challenges is limitless; my potential to succeed is infinite (let’s just say that if being hardheaded and refusing to quit will make it happen, I’m in good shape).

.) I am courageous (if I were more courageous, I’d need bail money)) and I stand up for myself (yes, but I have no idea what this has to do with finding the house).

.) My thoughts are filled with positivity and my life is plentiful with prosperity (This is where I start losing interest in the affirmations and just want to get back to finding the house).

.) Today, I abandon my old habits and take up new, more positive ones (old habits die hard, I have to find the house).

.) Many people look up to me and recognize my worth; I am admired. (For crying out loud…I’m worth more if I find the house, then my buyers will admire me.)

.) I am blessed with an incredible family and wonderful friends. (True)

.) I acknowledge my own self-worth; my confidence is soaring.  (We’re back to this again.)

.) Everything that is happening now is happening for my ultimate good (If that means I’m close to finding the right house, true statement).

.) I am a powerhouse; I am indestructible (I need to get over myself!)

.) Though these times are difficult, they are only a short phase of life (Difficult?  Even I know that searching for the right house doesn’t equate to poverty, world hunger, or war).

.) My future is an ideal projection of what I envision now (actually, all I can see is a mental picture of the house I’m looking for.)

.) My efforts are being supported by the universe; my dreams manifest into reality before my eyes (this part is exciting!).

.) I radiate beauty, charm, and grace (that’s stretching the truth til it snaps!).

.) I am conquering my illness; I am defeating it steadily each day.  (Uh-oh.  Maybe I’m in the wrong affirmation!  Did I know I was ill?).

.) My obstacles are moving out of my way; my path is carved towards greatness. (Please don’t be offended if I laugh.)

.) I wake up today with strength in my heart and clarity in my mind.  (I’m losing interest.)

.) My fears of tomorrow are simply melting away.  (Interest is definitely leaving the room.)

.) I am at peace with all that has happened, is happening, and will happen.  (Am I wasting my time here?)

.) My nature is Divine; I am a spiritual being.  (And this helps me find the house, how?)

.) My life is just beginning.  (Nope.  I’m not starting over.  I’ve got things to do that require more knowledge than I had on day one)

Well, that was fun.  (heavy sarcasm)  Moving on, I’ve got to get back to my search.  I know you’re busy too, but if you do come across someone looking to sell their home, please keep me in mind.  I’m not sure I’m cut out for affirmations.
