There’s a lot of waiting in real estate. You’re aware of that if you’ve bought or sold a house. As a Realtor, I wait for signs, photos, appraisers, inspectors, clients, lenders, other agents and closings.
Today, while I’m waiting for you to call about selling your house (or buying one), I’ll practice a few affirmations – Realtors are big on affirmations. I may (will) twist them a bit to suit my purpose.
.) I am the architect of my life (are you thinking about new construction?); I build its foundation (no cracks, please) and choose its contents (built-ins?).
.) Today, I am brimming with energy (plumbed for gas in the kitchen) and overflowing with joy (immediately upon closing).
.) My body is healthy (though a bit tired); my mind is brilliant (I’m definitely bright, but I don’t know about brilliant!); my soul is tranquil (that might be a stretch – I really need to hear from a lender).
.) I am superior to negative thoughts (always – no matter what the inspector says) and low actions (unacceptable).
.) I have been given endless talents which I begin to utilize today (Lord, I hope I started before today!).
.) I forgive those who have harmed me in my past (I can’t even remember who they are) and peacefully detach from them (completely).
.) A river of compassion washes away my anger (are we in a flood plain, because that will not do) and replaces it with love (that’s no problem – love never caused structural damage).
.) I am guided in my every step by Spirit (I acknowledge the power of my Creator) who leads me towards what I must know and do (please, Lord, let me be wise enough to understand).
.) I possess the qualities needed to be extremely successful (may I please have the energy to accompany them).
.) My business is growing, expanding, and thriving (it will help if you’ll call me).
.) Creative energy surges through me and leads me to new and brilliant ideas (that’s the goal).
.) Happiness is a choice (agreed). I base my happiness on my own accomplishments and the blessings I’ve been given (absolutely, but your call would also enhance my chosen happiness).
.) My ability to conquer my challenges is limitless; my potential to succeed is infinite (let’s just say that if being hardheaded and refusing to quit will make it happen, I’m in good shape).
.) I am courageous (if I were more courageous, I’d need bail money)) and I stand up for myself (yes, but while that may be courageous, it’s not always smart).
.) My thoughts are filled with positivity and my life is plentiful with prosperity (This is where I start losing interest in the affirmations and just want to get back work).
.) Today, I abandon my old habits and take up new, more positive ones (old habits die hard – will you call me today?).
.) Many people look up to me and recognize my worth; I am admired. (I’m worth more if you call me.)
.) I am blessed with an incredible family and wonderful friends. (True)
.) I acknowledge my own self-worth; my confidence is soaring. (We’re back to this again. Realtors have huge egos.)
.) Everything that is happening now is happening for my ultimate good (If that means dialing my number, true statement).
.) I am a powerhouse; I am indestructible (I need to get over myself!)
.) Though these times are difficult, they are only a short phase of life (Difficult? Challenging maybe, but nothing about my life trumps poverty, world hunger, or war).
.) My future is an ideal projection of what I envision now (actually, all I can envision right now is that I might miss your call.)
.) My efforts are being supported by the universe; my dreams manifest into reality before my eyes (this part is exciting!).
.) I radiate beauty, charm, and grace (that’s stretching the truth til it snaps!).
.) I am conquering my illness; I am defeating it steadily each day. (Uh-oh. Maybe I’m in the wrong affirmation! Did I know I was ill?).
.) My obstacles are moving out of my way; my path is carved towards greatness. (This made me laugh out loud! Greatness? Seriously?)
.) I wake up today with strength in my heart and clarity in my mind. (And boredom with this exercise.)
.) My fears of tomorrow are simply melting away. (Fear? I thought I was courageous.)
.) I am at peace with all that has happened, is happening, and will happen. (I’m wasting my time here.)
.) My nature is Divine; I am a spiritual being. (Divine? Sounds sacrilegious.)
.) My life is just beginning. (Nope. I’m not starting over. I’ve got things to do that require more knowledge than I had on day one.)
Okay. Affirmation time over. Well, that was fun. (heavy sarcasm) Moving on, I’ve got to get back to my work. I want to be ready for your call. Cause if you do come across someone looking to sell their home (or buy one), you’ll keep me in mind, right?
I’m not sure I’m cut out for affirmations. Call me!
